Can this skill be appropriately depicted in a video model?
Some of the time-management and organizational strategies that impact on-time arrivals might be depicted in video models. For example, if the student struggles to efficiently pack their school belongings on the night before (which may impact arrival times the next day), you can develop a video model that clearly demonstrates the steps of packing a backpack.
In other words, the model can portray some specific skill that the student must develop to improve being on time. On the other hand, it can also portray the entire sequence of steps that the student needs to use to arrive on time. For instance, with a particularly important and frequent problem (arriving at work each morning on time), the video can illustrate 1) evening preparation with a written list, 2) morning preparation with a written list, 3) avoiding distractions (video game, tv, pet, etc.) during preparation, 4) walking directly, etc., in a sequence.
Have you task analyzed this skill to ensure that your video clearly depicts every key step that comprises the skill?
Who will you use as “actors” in this video – will the targeted student be included in the video?
Will you shoot this video from the perspective of the student (first person) or from the third person perspective?
Will you narrate the video?
How will you ensure that the student experiences opportunities to not only review the skill via the video model, but to also engage in repeated rehearsal of the skill across multiple contexts?
Will the student be able to review the video just prior to expected performance of that skill (priming)?
