Have you task analyzed the skill of initiating a conversations to ensure that your video clearly depicts every key step that comprises the skill?
Does the video depict the individual pausing to evaluate the situation (thinking “should I initiate?”), then walking towards someone, stopping at the appropriate distance, waiting to get their attention, looking towards that person, smiling, making an initiating question or comment, etc.? It may help to pause the video at these steps (or edit freeze frames into the video if possible).
Who will you use as “actors” in this video – will the targeted student be included in the video?
Is there a video class or club that could be used to make these videos?
Will you shoot this video from the perspective of the student (first person) or from the third person perspective?
Will you narrate the video?
You might explicitly describe in your narration how the subject displays appropriate verbal and non-verbal behaviors (e.g. “Watch as he stays two steps away from the person”).
How will you ensure that the student experiences opportunities to not only review the skill via the video model, but to also engage in repeated rehearsal of the skill across multiple contexts?
Will the student be able to review the video just prior to expected performance of that skill (priming)?
