What reinforcing consequences can you arrange that are more naturally or intrinsically connected to this targeted behavior?
In many cases, it is most effective to identify a position (volunteer, paid, extracurricular, school-based club, etc.) that the student is interested in pursuing. As he gathers and organizes his information, he is working towards the goal of actually applying for that position. Even if that position does not require all of the information that he gathers, his work will still be connected to a desired outcome. If he is not currently pursuing a position, consider other motivating goals that would require one to provide certain information (e.g. obtaining a driver’s license, a movie or game rental card, a social networking profile page).
