Can this skill be appropriately depicted in a video model?
Seeing oneself moving quickly through a transition on video just prior to practicing that transition can support success. If the video model depicts the specific steps that the student will use in multiple daily transitions, it can be provided periodically throughout the day to help the student remember and use those steps. The model may refer to how the student uses his schedule, uses his reminder card, puts things away without talking to others, etc. What are the elements that you need to portray within the video?
Have you task analyzed this skill to ensure that your video clearly depicts every key step that comprises the skill?
Who will you use as “actors” in this video – will the targeted student be included in the video?
As in the other organizational topics, the student himself completing the transitions successfully in the video can support both attention and motivation.
Will you shoot this video from the perspective of the student (first person) or from the third person perspective?
Will you narrate the video?
How will you ensure that the student experiences opportunities to not only review the skill via the video model, but to also engage in repeated rehearsal of the skill across multiple contexts?
Will the student be able to review the video just prior to expected performance of that skill (priming)?
