Can this skill be appropriately depicted in a video model?
Given the basic question-response sequence below, determine what specific behaviors you might want to depict within a model –
The interviewer asks a question, and then the interviewee:
1) uses repair strategies (if needed) to seek clarification when he does not understand the question, to request that the interviewer repeat the question,and/or to request a moment to think about the question
2) generates a response that is adequate (right amount of information), relevant (on-topic and applicable to the work setting), and appropriate (positive, not too personal, and taking into account the perspective of the employer)
*Paired with the verbal response are particular non-verbal behaviors (e.g., body positioning, eye contact approximations, smiling, etc.).
Refer to the section on Communication Systems, Scripts, and Scenarios within this topic to locate examples of video models – models that depict the APPROPRIATE response in a given situation.
Who will you use as “actors” in this video – will the targeted student be included in the video?
Will you narrate the video?
Will the student be able to review the video just prior to expected performance of that skill (priming)?
