Visual Cues:

What visual instructions or reminder cues should be accessible to support performance of this social communication skill?

Based on what the student found most useful during instruction, it could be helpful to build a “nonverbal cue kit” with the student to store various visual cues for on-going support.  The kit may include a reminder card, modified social narratives, or even a DVD of particularly helpful video models.

This is a reminder card that briefly summarizes the general skills involved in showing interest in a conversation:

A simple drawing, photograph, or image can also be used as a very brief summary of one or more of the nonverbal cues for showing interest:

In my design of each visual support, have I considered whether the student may need visual clarity cues (added to the communication script or scenario, graphic organizer, social narrative, or video models) to highlight (label) or emphasize key features or concepts?

In order to align this intervention topic area with the unique needs of the student, do you need to create visual instructions and reminder cues in the View2do program?
