What type of graphic organizer(s) might the student require in order to visually represent and organize the concepts that relate to this particular topic?
Some students may struggle to generate sentences that comprise the body of a thank you letter. The form below provides basic guidance through fill-in-the-blank items. Consider how you might need to modify the structure and language to address the student’s needs:
For brainstorming information to include within the letter, this thought map provides an organized approach. This might not be used as a single-sitting assignment as it requests a lot of information. Instead, one idea is to use it as the bridging component between tasks as the student systematically constructs the thank you letter one piece at a time. The student can write the 1-2 sentences on the part of the map that corresponds to the target of the current task; then return to the graph during a later task which corresponds with the next piece of the map, continuing until the map is complete and the student has an organized collection of the body of the thank you letter.
A thank you letter template can support planning, visual arrangement, and execution of content if devised correctly. Be sure to adjust this template and any graphic organizers according to the specific learning style and needs of the student. This “Thank You Letter Template” may require modification to best suit the student, such as adding visual clarity cues, breaking apart the sections into separate templates, or devising activities that do not require the student to navigate a word processor on the computer.
Is there a way to visually or thematically incorporate the student’s interests into this graphic organizer to increase motivation and engagement?
What additional visual clarity cues (e.g. icons, bolding, highlighting, color-coding) might you add to the graphic organizer to clarify concepts and to direct attention to key details?
In order to align this intervention topic area with the unique needs of the student, do you need to create a graphic organizer in the View2do program?
