What visual instructions or reminder cues should be present in each space to support sequenced and organized performance? Where should these be placed?
As a final step, survey the space and decide if additional visual cues are needed to support the student in independent movement and activity. Are signs needed in the hall to remind the student to go straight to the work or break areas? Where will the choice card be placed to assure access?
Below is a written visual cue that might serve to remind the student of his options (in some classroom environments, in some work environments):
How can I organize the materials (or help the student organize) to support independent performance? Where do materials go when they are finished?
Are the choices of activities well displayed and organized to assure access? Assure with the supervisor and with co-workers that all employees will assist in keeping the activities in the same place for easy access. If it is the responsibility of the student to keep up with the visual supports, assure that the student has a backpack or personal item in which he or she can store their supports for easy access.
In my design of each visual support, have I considered whether the student may need visual clarity cues (added to the environmental design, schedule, to-do list, graphic organizer, social narrative, and / or video model) to highlight (label) or emphasize key features or concepts?
In order to align this intervention topic area with the unique needs of the student, do you need to create visual instructions and reminder cues in the View2do program?
