Overview

A visit to the doctor can be a stressful experience for any child, but for a child with special needs, the experience can be terrifying, thus making it especially difficult for parents and medical staff. Children may feel increased anxiety when encountering new environments. Predictability and motivation may help counteract the anxiety. The use of visual systems, as seen here, help provide necessary support to make a visit to the doctor more predictable and easier to manage.

Three formats are provided depending on the comprehension level of the child.
(1) picture (2) picture with word (3) written. An abbreviated icon library is also provided so parents can tailor the information to meet the specific needs of their children.
