Tip

If you live in a small town, you may want to search for jobs in a larger city that is close by to you. There may be more options in a larger town or city than in a small town.  Make sure you are willing to travel to that location though!

Some websites are geared toward finding a specific type of job.

The way to search for jobs on these sites differs among the sites.

  • You can search by company or corporation.  Specifically, the names of many corporations are listed. You can click on one of these corporations to read more about the available jobs within that corporation and how to apply for them.  Sometimes a list of all available jobs at that corporation will be displayed.   You will need to scroll down to see if there are available jobs in your area.
  • There may also be a heading such as "For Job Seekers" or "Seeking Employment."  Click on one of those headings to learn more about job opportunities.  From there, you can most often search by location.  That is, you can type in your city and state to pull up job postings in your area.
  • Finally, some sites give you the option of searching by hourly positions or management positions.  Click on whichever option meets your needs.  You can then search by location (city and state).

If you find a job you are interested in, click on it to learn more about the job.  You will then likely find a place to apply online.  Click on that link, and you will be routed to an online application.  The online application process will differ depending on what job or what company you are applying to.
