Customer Service

person thinkingThink Like the Customer

All customers have expectations.  When you are a customer, you have certain expectations:

  • You expect to find what you are looking for.
  • You expect to pay a certain price or within a certain price range.
  • You expect to be treated in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • You expect to get what you need within a certain amount of time.
  • You expect the goods or services that you buy to perform as advertised.

Let’s say that you are the customer:

  • How would you feel if you could not find the item you were looking for?
  • How would you feel if you had to pay a lot more money for something than you expected?
  • How would you feel if a store employee treated you in a rude or unfair manner?
  • How would you feel if you had to wait in line for a really long time?
  • How would you feel if you bought an item and then it did not work as expected?

You might feel frustrated, anxious, or even furious if one of these things happened to you.  So wouldn’t other people (your customers) also get frustrated if this happened to them?  Try to keep this in mind when you are dealing with customers.
