Leaving a Job - Overview
At some point, you may need to permanently leave your job. You may leave your job voluntarily (because you choose to leave), or in some cases, you may have to leave involuntarily (because you are told to leave).
 |
If you choose to leave your job, it is called quitting your job. You are leaving voluntarily. Another word for quitting your job is resigning from your job. |
 |
If you are told to leave your job by your supervisor, you are likely either being fired or laid off. You are leaving involuntarily. |
If you do not have a job, that means you are unemployed. Unemployment can be difficult for many people because they are not earning money and “making a living.” Not working also can be hard because your life may lack structure and routine.
This section covers information about how to quit a job, how to handle being laid off or fired, and how to cope with unemployment.
