Application Sections - Personal Information

The first part of the application usually contains basic questions about your identity and your contact information. Companies need to know this information so they can contact you if they are interested in hiring you. They also need to know this information in order to conduct background checks.
Here is what you will need to fill in on most application forms:
- Full name
- Full address
- Birthday
- Email address
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Home and cell numbers
- Your age if you are under 18
- A question about your citizenship: "Are you a U.S. citizen?" or "Do you have the legal right to work in the United States?"
- A question about any criminal background: "Have you ever been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, a violent crime, or are you a registered sex offender?"
Here are some of the things that companies might examine when they do a background check:
- Driving records
- Criminal records
- Education records
- Court records
- State licensing records
- Drug test records
- Past employers
- Incarceration records
- Sex offender lists
