Before the Interview - Plan Transportation
It is important for you to be on time for the interview, so plan in advance exactly how you are going to get to your interview location. If you are late to an interview, it will make the interviewer think that you are disorganized or disinterested in the job. You should always plan to arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled interview time.

Make sure you have the name and contact number of the person you are to interview with. If there is an unexpected situation and you are going to be late or cannot get there, contact them.
Here are possible ways of getting to your interview:
Drive yourself.
Have someone else drive you (such as a friend or family member).
Take the bus.
Take a taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc.
Take the subway.
- If you are driving yourself, give yourself 10 extra minutes to park in case you have trouble finding a space, or have to park and walk a little ways to your interview location.
- Take a practice drive a few days before the interview to make sure that you know the route and how long the ride takes. If you are driving yourself, find out where available parking is as part of your practice drive.
- Remember that travel time to the interview might be longer at certain times of the day ("rush hour") than at other times. If you are trying to get to an interview during rush hour, leave plenty of extra time.
Do your practice drive at the same time of day as your interview so that you know how traffic will be at that time.
- Remember money for parking fees.

Plan how you are going to get home after the interview. You should plan on heading home approximately one hour after the interview start time.
If you are getting a ride, arrange a time and place to be picked up.
- If you are taking the bus, bring the bus schedule with you so you know when to catch it.
- Finally, if you are taking a taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc, bring the number of the taxi company with you so you call when you need to be picked up.
