Why should I use thought stories? These stories can help you better understand the thoughts and feelings of others. In other words, these stories can help you improve your perspective-taking skills. When you have a better understanding of other people’s perspectives, it might help you know how to appropriately respond in certain situations. What should my story be about? The topic of your story can relate to anything that shows how you and someone else (who are in the same situation) might think different things and perceive that situation, in different ways. What should I include in these stories? In most cases, you should include these parts:
How do I create these stories? You can hand-draw or cut and paste images to create your stories. It is OK if you are not the best artist! The point is for you to learn from and enjoy these stories. When should I review these stories? Once you have written a thought story, you should review it on a regular basis AND when particularly stressful events occur. Review these stories with a "support person" (i.e. parent, teacher, coach, mentor, therapist) as needed. Where should I keep these stories? In a binder, notebook, on a hand-held device, or on your computer. A parent, teacher, mentor, coach, or therapist should instruct and guide you in developing these comics. You will need their guidance and instruction for several reasons:
