Decision Making Guide
Purpose:
This diagram can help you "map out" the potentially positive and negative consequences of certain choices. In order to complete this organizer, you may need assistance from a parent, teacher, mentor, coach, or therapist.
Instructions:
- Select an issue to which you could respond in several different ways. This issue might be one that is confusing, problematic, challenging, upsetting, or stressful for you.
- List the potential responses that might be used to address the issue in the "options" boxes.
- List the pros (positive results) and cons (negative results) for each of the available response options. How will each response affect you, other people, and the work environment?
- After you have considered the pros and cons of each response, select the best option. Circle that option.
- If needed, make a plan to act on this option—and then do it!
